Donna Bawden
Director, Partnerships and Training
Donna holds an Honours BA (socio-cultural anthropology) and a MA (medical anthropology), specializing in southern African HIV/AIDS. She has worked in Namibia on HIV/AIDS related projects. First as a volunteer (YAH/CIDA funded project), then as an ICAD funded intern, Donna joined HL in 2006 as HIV/AIDS and Gender Officer. She lives in Lesotho directing HL partnership development, interns, volunteers and leadership, gender equity, women’s conference, out-of-school youth training programs and the HLYC (Help Lesotho Youth corps) village development activities, as well as HIV/AIDS and gender training, counselling and testing initiatives. HL has been responsible for over 5,000 people testing in Lesotho in the last two years. Donna works incredibly hard to create environments where Basotho youth can face barriers against HIV/AIDS and gender equity.
